Sushi Rice

What do you do when your favorite sushi place closes down to remodel? You learn to make sushi! Great rice is the key step. When I ran out of rice vinegar, I substituted it for Mirin. BEST ACCIDENT EVER! I now prefer my own rolls compared to eating out. I bet you will too!

Ingredients

1 and ½ cups calrose rice

2 and ½ cups water

1/4 cup mirin 

1 Tablespoon sugar

1 teaspoon sea salt

Step ONE:

1 and ½ cups calrose rice

2 and ½ cups water

1/4 cup mirin 

1 Tablespoon sugar

1 teaspoon sea salt

Combine ingredients in pan. Bring to boil, reduce heat to low, cook 15 minutes or until liquid absorbed. Remove from heat and fluff. Cool to room temperature. 

You are now ready to make your sushi rolls!!!
