Gardening Tips and Tricks
Flowering Garden
Don't you think gardens can be ugly? I think so too! One trick I've been doing the last several years is growing flowers with my vegetables and herbs. My garden has seriously transformed into a piece of artwork! Everyone who comes by compliments me on my beautiful flower garden. Some not realizing that vegetables actually grow there too! I usually put in cana lilies, dahlias (they climb up the cana lilly stalks), and zinnias! Bright colors pop through all the thick green in the garden. The vibrant colors attract bees, butterflies, and birds! It's transformed an eyesore, to a place of wonder. A great tip if you want something cheerful and different too!
Drip System
A drip system on a timer is a must when you have a garden! It allows for you to water exactly what you need without having to tend to it daily. Who has time for that? The best way to do it, is attaching it to your sprinkler system.
If you don't have that option, don't worry! You can always attach a timer and drip house to your outside faucet. They have bifurcated (two way) attachments and timers too! This will allow you to water multiple areas at a time. Sooo easy!!!
Fresh Herbs
Fresh herbs will make your cooking go from blah to fab! I don't know about you, but I hate buying and wasting the fresh herbs I purchase. Sometimes they go bad so quickly! I've learned that planting herbs in my garden during the summer and transplanting them inside for winter, allows for fresh herbs all the time! It's also a lot friendlier on your budget.
