Asian Spice Blend

This spice blend is my go to with multiple meals. Whether it's a stir fry, ramen, pho or a number of other dishes, you'll be happy to have this on hand and ready to go! Its a HUGE time saver not to mention its healthier then what you get out of a jar.

Ingredients

1/2 pound ginger
1/2 pound shallot
3 bunches of green onion
3 heads of garlic
1/4 cup olive oil

     Directions Below

Step ONE:

1/2 pound ginger, washed, skins on

1/2 pound shallot, peeled

3 bunches of green onion, washed, roots and tips cut off

3 heads of garlic, peeled

Chop ginger, shallot and green onion into smaller chunks to fit easier into your food processor. Put each ingredient individually in food processor until evenly chopped. Place in bowl.

Step TWO:

1/4 cup olive oil

Stir in olive oil into Step ONE. You want it to be gently coated in olive oil, not soaked. Individually wrap 2 Tablespoons of mixture into saran wrap until mixture is gone. Place in freezer and use in your favorite recipes. Makes about 20.

Tips:

I commonly double this recipe. I use these in stir fries, soups, sauces, salad dressings, and whatever else I can think of.

I've used plastic ice cube trays in the past to put the mixture in to try and avoid plastic waste. It's very challenging getting the spice blend out. It's also very time consuming to clean. I'm trying to figure out a way to not use seran wrap. Environmentally friendly ideas are welcome!
